Role and responsibilities

The Sr. Buyer/Planner performs and/or coordinates the planning, scheduling, procurement and expediting for specific product lines to meet master schedule and customer order requirements as well as procuring indirect spend items as needed. The Sr. Buyer/Planner is responsible for maintaining inventory levels supporting production/R&D and customer requirements while maintaining economic control of inventories.

  • Develop and identify supply sources that are relevant to the needs of the business.
  • Review and process Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders while implementing procurement strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Must be able to collect, analyze and interpret mfg. data in order to make decisions that may impact production, personnel or processes
  • Identify and implement cost saving/cost avoidance opportunities
  • Must be able to prioritize own assignments, while focusing on key tasks despite limited time and resources
  • Resolve quality, pricing, and delivery issues with suppliers
  • Interface with Accounts Payable and Internal Customers to resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies
  • Serve as the key point of contact for Authorized Requesters and Managers to troubleshoot and resolve Purchase Requisition and Purchase Order issues
  • Must be able to keep projects or critical tasks moving when delays or problems occur

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access and Outlook
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills that build and enhance solid working relationships that promote collaboration and cooperation.
  • Candidate must be detailed-oriented with hands on involvement and the desire to grow with increasing responsibilities.
  • Takes a leadership role in improving processes a d works under minimal supervision while assisting less experienced peers
  • Sound judgment and exceptional time management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • College degree preferred with 5-7  minimum years of relevant experience
  • Experience using Macola related MRP system preferred
  • Electronic manufacturing experience desired
  • APICS or CPIM or CSCP certification(s) a plus
